Mrs. Alethia Jacobs, Assistant Director: Quality Assurance and Mr. Charles Goodwin, Principal

Boland College proudly announces that it has maintained its ISO 9001 Quality Management System certification with the South African Bureau of Standards (SABS), marking 17 consecutive years of ISO certification since first being certified in 2009.

ISO 9001 is an internationally recognised standard for quality management systems. It confirms that an institution consistently meets regulatory requirements, prioritises stakeholder satisfaction, and is committed to ongoing improvement. This achievement reflects the College’s resilience, strong internal controls, and unwavering commitment to quality assurance.

Over nearly two decades, Boland College has embedded quality management into its institutional culture, ensuring that academic delivery, administrative processes, governance, and student support services meet rigorous standards of excellence.

The College’s continued certification aligns with its core values of excellence, integrity, accountability, respect, and innovation. These values guide every aspect of the institution’s work, from teaching and learning to stakeholder engagement and community partnerships.

Mrs Alethia Jacobs, Assistant Director: Quality Assurance at Boland College, emphasised the significance of this milestone: “Seventeen consecutive years of ISO certification confirm that our systems are effective and consistently implemented. Quality assurance at Boland College is embedded in daily operations, not treated as a once-off compliance exercise.”

Boland College Principal, Mr. Charles Goodwin, highlighted the broader impact of the certification: “This milestone affirms Boland College’s position as a trusted and reputable institution within the TVET sector. Our ISO certification provides assurance to our students, partners, industry stakeholders, and communities that we operate in accordance with internationally recognised quality standards. It speaks to our culture of integrity, resilience, and continuous improvement. We are grateful to all members of staff who play their part in maintaining quality processes under the leadership of Ms. Jacobs and the Quality Office.”

As the College looks ahead, it remains focused on strengthening systems, enhancing student experience, and advancing innovation in teaching and learning, ensuring that quality remains central to its mission of empowering students through education and training.
