Boland TVET College has recently taken a significant step in the field of Vocational Education and Training by establishing a local centre for Vocational Excellence in Climate Smart Agriculture. In collaboration with Mendel University in Brno, Czech Republic, Dr Francois Lategan visited Boland College to contribute to the activities of the European Union Erasmus-funded project, Centre of Vocational Excellence (CoVE) South Africa.
During his visit, Dr Lategan, along with Mr. Vincent Uys, Head Of Department: Agriculture Boland College, actively engaged with various stakeholders in the local regional agricultural value chain. They aimed to generate interest and support for the CoVE initiative, taking hands with numerous other partners like Stellenbosch University, etc.
The primary objective of the locally established CoVE is to encourage active participation in the growth and impact of Vocational Education and Training, specifically in the field of Climate Smart Agriculture. As a result of these collaborative efforts, Boland College had the opportunity to witness some of the latest technological advancements in the highly integrated agricultural industry within its catchment area.
This endeavor marks a significant milestone for Boland TVET College, as it strives to establish a critical mass in Climate Smart Agriculture and promote the importance of Vocational Education and Training in this field.
We look forward to seeing the potential coming to life and planting seeds for future generations to learn and benefit from.
