Boland College is proud to announce that it has once again received a clean audit outcome from the Auditor-General of South Africa (AGSA) for its 2025 Annual Financial Statements.

This achievement marks the seventh consecutive year that the College has received an unqualified audit opinion with no findings, placing Boland College among a select group of national public entities to reach this significant milestone. The College has also been recognised as one of only two TVET colleges in South Africa to be placed on the AGSA Honour Roll for achieving more than 5 consecutive clean audits.

While a clean audit may sound like a financial term, its significance extends far beyond numbers on a balance sheet. It is an indication that public funds have been managed responsibly, financial statements are free from material misstatements, legislative requirements have been complied with, and the institution has effective systems of governance, accountability, risk management, and internal controls in place.

“When an auditee receives a financially unqualified audit opinion with no findings (also referred to as a clean audit), it means that its financial statements and performance report give a transparent and credible account of its finances and its performance against set targets. In other words, these accountability reports present a reliable picture of that auditee’s performance- whether good or bad. This enables everyone with an interest in the auditee– particularly those that need to oversee the auditee’s performance and provide support for it to succeed– to determine how the auditee is doing and to act where necessary. A clean audit also means that the auditee complied with the important legislation that applies to it and, where transgressions did occur, they were rare or not material.”- AGSA PFMA Report

For a public TVET college operating in a complex and highly regulated environment, achieving a clean audit requires year-round commitment across every area of the institution. The process includes extensive scrutiny of financial records, procurement practices, governance structures, performance information, compliance with legislation, and the effectiveness of internal controls. Every transaction, process, and decision must be supported by accurate documentation and evidence.

The principal of Boland College, Charles Goodwin, said the achievement reflects the collective commitment of the entire College community. “A clean audit is not achieved by a finance department alone. The achievement comes at a time when Boland College continues to expand its impact through innovative academic programmes, industry partnerships, work-based learning opportunities, and student support initiatives across the Western Cape.
