BOLAND COLLEGE ACHIEVES SIXTH CONSECUTIVE CLEAN AUDIT OUTCOME

Mr Neil Jansen (Boland TVET College Council Chairperson)

Boland College is proud to announce that it has once again received a clean audit outcome from the Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA) for its 2024 Annual Financial Statements. This marks the sixth consecutive year that the College has earned an unqualified audit with no findings – an achievement that reflects the institution’s steadfast commitment to sound financial governance, legal compliance, and operational excellence. The AGSA’s rigorous audit was conducted by ARC Sakhile Chartered Accountants and Auditors Incorporated in April and May 2025, and encompassed key focus areas such as compliance with GRAP (Generally Recognised Accounting Practice) standards, procurement and contract management, asset and human resource management, ICT systems, and legislative and governance compliance. The College wishes to thank Mr Hannes Barnard [CA(SA)/RA]— Director of ARC Sakhile for their diligence and professionalism throughout the audit process. “This clean audit outcome is more than a financial milestone—it is a reflection of the shared values and collective integrity that underpin Boland College,” said Mr Charles Goodwin, Principal of Boland College. “It reinforces our standing as a responsible public institution and affirms the trust placed in us by our stakeholders.”

The College extends sincere appreciation to its Finance Department for their professionalism, precision, and dedication throughout the year, which was instrumental during the audit process. Recognition is also due to the dedicated teams in Human Resources and MIS/IT, whose collaborative effort ensured audit-readiness across all systems and departments. Strategic oversight by the Audit and Risk Committee, chaired by Mr Tom Blok (CA(SA)), played a pivotal role in ensuring compliance and accountability. In addition, the contributions of Internal Audit, Risk Management, and Quality Assurance further reinforced Boland College’s culture of ethical governance and continuous improvement. While much of the audit coordination was undertaken at Head Office, the achievement is shared across the institution. “It is the day-to-day diligence, compliance, and commitment of staff and managers across our campuses that make this level of excellence possible,” Goodwin added.

The College Council, under the leadership of Chairperson Mr Neil Jansen, has played an essential governance role by providing strategic oversight, ensuring accountability, and upholding the principles of good governance. Their unwavering commitment to institutional excellence and their support of the executive management team have been vital to this achievement.

“We as Council are extremely proud of the dedicated work and unwavering commitment of the College management team in securing yet another unqualified audit outcome. This remarkable achievement is a testament to the culture of accountability, excellence, and service that defines Boland TVET College. Keep up the outstanding work,” said Mr Neil Jansen, Chairperson of Boland College Council. “We also extend our heartfelt appreciation to the Audit and Risk Committee for their steadfast guidance and strategic oversight—your leadership has been instrumental in making this success possible.”

As Boland College continues to set a benchmark in public higher education and financial stewardship, this milestone serves as both recognition and motivation to continue striving for excellence.
