

Boland College is bursting with pride following the exceptional performances of its athletes at the CoSACSA National Athletics Championships, held from 1–3 April 2025 in Polokwane, Limpopo. Competing as part of the Western Cape team, Boland’s athletes played a key role in the province’s impressive haul of 54 medals, showcasing unwavering determination, remarkable talent, and the true spirit of sportsmanship. The Boland College delegation featured a diverse and gifted group of 21 athletes: 5 seniors, 6 juniors, and 10 partially sighted athletes—each leaving their mark on the national stage.
A highlight of the championship was the extraordinary performance by Boland’s 10 partially sighted athletes, who together secured an astounding 18 medals: 13 Gold | 4 Silver | 1 Bronze
These athletes not only demonstrated elite-level talent but also embodied resilience and the power of inclusion. Their success is a proud milestone for Boland College and the Western Cape.

Beyond the visually impaired category, Boland College’s junior and senior athletes also brought home a string of impressive wins:
- Clairese Moses broke the national junior girls’ 1500m record, previously untouched since 2023. She also earned silver in the 1500m and 3000m, and helped secure gold in the 4x400m relay.
- Shantrulee Van Rooi bagged silver medals in the long jump and 400m and joined the gold-winning 4x400m relay team.
- Avron Jeftha sprinted to silver in the 100m and 4x100m, and earned bronze in the 200m.
- Lee-Ann April earned gold in the 5000m for Senior Ladies.
- Michaela Mbasa – Bronze: 3000m (Junior Girls)
- Athemba Nqumashe – Bronze: 800m (Senior Ladies)
- Chad Adams – Silver: High Jump (Senior Men)
In one of the most inspiring moments of the competition, Aidan Links, a Deaf junior athlete, competed against able-bodied athletes and soared to success—winning bronze in the long jump and high jump, and silver in the 4x400m relay. His performance exemplifies elite athleticism and perseverance and highlights the transformative impact of inclusivity in sport.
