BOLAND COLLEGE WELCOMES NEWLY APPOINTED COLLEGE COUNCIL

Boland College is pleased to announce the appointment of its new College Council members, who will play a vital role in maintaining the Colleges’ high standards of institutional corporate governance.

Boland College is one of the top-performing TVET colleges and has received 5 consecutive clean audits from the Auditor-General South Africa (AGSA).

The newly appointed members bring a wealth of corporate governance experience and expertise from various sectors, including academia, business, audit, ICT, finance, human resources, legal, and community development across the private and public sectors. Their collective knowledge and experience will support the College in achieving its strategic objectives whilst ensuring legal compliance and institutional performance.

Mr Charles Goodwin, Principal of Boland College, commends the Minister of Higher Education and Training, Dr Nobuhle Nkabane, on the Council appointments, stating: “The College is delighted to have high calibre College Council members with strong expertise in corporate governance and reflective of diversity, gender and disability. We are excited to welcome our new College Council members. Their guidance and expertise will be instrumental in promoting the institution’s mission to deliver accessible quality education and training across the Boland region, focusing on each student’s growth and potential, and equiping them with skills for success.”

The newly appointed Council members are:

  • Mr Neil Jansen (College Council Chairperson and Chairperson of the Human Resources Committee)
  • Mr Sanele Zondi (College Council Vice-chairperson and member of the Finance and Planning and Resources Committees)
  • Mr Tom Blok (Audit and Risk Committee Chairperson and Vice-Chairperson of the Finance Committee)
  • Mr Oupa Galane (Chairperson of the Finance Committee and member of Audit & Risk Committee)
  • Mrs Danita Welgemoed (Chairperson of the Planning and Resources Committee and member of the Academic Board)
  • Mrs Aneeka Jacobs (Vice-chairperson of the Human Resources Committee and member of the Academic Board)
  • Mr Mncedisi Nobala (Vice-chairperson of the Planning and Resources Committee)
  • Prof Gideon Wolfaardt (Donor representative and member of the Academic Board)
  • Advocate Mandla Mdludlu (Member of the Finance and Audit and Risk Committees)
  • Dr Mariaan Bester (Member of the Academic Board and Human Resources Committee)

Additionally, the College Council welcomes Ms June Williams to the Audit and Risk Committee as the Independent External Member. Ms Williams brings a wealth of experience and expertise to the Audit and Risk Committee, as being a retired Senior Manager in the Office of the Auditor-General Western Cape.

The new Council members collectively hold a commanding range of academic and professional qualifications, including doctoral degrees in various fields and membership in professional bodies such as the Institute of Directors SA and the Institute of Internal Auditors SA.

The College looks forward to working closely with the new Council to shape a future-focused educational environment that empowers students and strengthens industry partnerships.
