What you should know

The NATED N4-N6 Engineering qualification is designed to provide the theoretical component in order for you to attain a National Diploma in Electrical Engineering. The practical component comprises of 24 months (2000 working hours) of work experience relevant to your trade. The Department of Higher Education will issue you with a National Certificate once you have passed each level eg. N4, N5, N6. After completing your work experience you can apply for your National Diploma from the DHET at the campus where you have completed your N6 qualification.

Requirements

Grade 12 with 40% pass in Mathematics/N3 Pass/ NCV L4 with 30% in Mathematics
A learner can only proceed to the next level if he/she has passed the previous level

1 Year
24 months (2000 working hours) practical work experience

Career Opportunities

The nature of your work will depend on the industry you work in. Most employers take on graduates with a view to developing their specialist knowledge further. However, with some employers electrical engineering graduates will develop into more ‘generalist’ electricians or technicians. Industries:
