BOLAND COLLAGE ENLIGHTENS THOUSANDS OF STUDENTS AT US OPEN DAY

On 27 February thousands of potential students wandered on the grounds of the University of Stellenbosch to gain more information regarding different institutions, courses, accommodation and to experience campus life first-hand. The vibrant marketing team of Boland College pulled out all stops and students were seen in their hordes at the information stall. Campus marketers enthusiastically tended to campus and course enquiries and students left with a better picture of what the college offers.

According to Ms. Magdel Pretorius (Project Manager and Advisor: Centre for Recruitment and Career Advice) they were overwhelmed by the positivity of the potential students towards the university and other institutions who exhibited their services.

Pretorius said the following: “The Open Day is an ideal opportunity for Grade 11 and 12 learners to obtain valuable information regarding higher education institutions and what makes the Open Day such a special event is that prospective students and their parents can have direct conversations with the staff of these institutions to gather up to date information regarding courses and support offered to students.”

According to Pretorius there was an estimated 10 000 prospective students at the Open Day, in comparison to the estimated 7000 visitors captured the previous year. The different and wide spread locations of information stations definitely contributed to the overall success of the day.

Universiteit van Stellenbosch se Ope Dag trek talle voornemende Boland Kollege studente

Op Saterdag 27 Februarie het duisende voornemende studente op die Universiteit van Stellenbosch se gronde toegesak om meer uit te vind oor die verskeidenheid instansies, kursusse, verblyf en om die kampuslewe te kom beleef. Boland Kollege se bemarkingspan het soos in die verlede gesorg dat voornemende studente die Boland Kollege stasie nie kon miskyk nie. Kampusbemarkers het entoesiasties navrae oor kursusse en kampusse geantwoord en inlingtingsbrosjures uitgedeel.

Volgens Me. Magdel Pretorius (Projekbestuurder en Adviseur: Sentrum vir Studentewerwing en Loopbaan-advies) is hulle oorweldig deur die positiwiteit van die voornemende studente teenoor nie net die universiteit nie, maar ook die buite instansies wat uitstallings beman het.

Pretorius het die volgende by navraag gesê: “Opedag is die ideale geleentheid vir Graad 11 en 12 leerders om waardevolle inligting te bekom oor studie by hoëronderwysinstellings en wat die Opedag so spesiaal maak is dat voornemende studente en hul ouers direk met personeel kan gesels om presies op hoogte te kom van wat die onderskeie studierigtings behels en watter ondersteuning aan studente gebied word.”

Pretorius reken dat daar hierdie jaar om en by 10 000 besoekers die Opedag bygewoon het, in vergelyking met die geskatte 7000 besoekers van die vorige jaar. Die verspreide inligtingslokale het defnitief ook bygedra tot die sukses van die dag.

Ons bedank hiermee alle personeel betrokke met die uitstalling en ook ‘n hartlike dank aan die Universiteit van Stellenbosch vir die geleentheid om ons kursusse en kampusse te kon uitstal.
