Boland College (BC) Stellenbosch Campus has joined forces with City & Guilds International to present the first ever international Sport qualification of its kind on the African Continent.
Stellenbosch Campus has been offering qualifications in Sport to learners for more than a decade.
The City of Oaks, as Stellenbosch is internationally known, is world famous as a mecca for sport, and learners are afforded the opportunity to engage with various sport codes in a safe and exciting physical environment.
Earlier this year, a group of 24 selected learners were registered for the Level 2 Award: Diploma in Sport (4863-23). This one-year qualification offers both theoretical as well as practical components to learners wishing to engage a career in the Sport Industry. Learners could move into areas of coaching, fitness, health, leisure facility management and sport development, to name a few. The possibility of a second year at Level 3 is considered for learners that wish to enhance their Sport Management skills.
The venture with City & Guilds International affords students the opportunity to hold an international qualification in this billion dollar global industry. As a qualification awarding body, City & Guilds offers over 500 qualifications in more than a 100 countries around the globe and has been doing so for more than a century.
BC’s two sport specialist staff members Mr Hendré Smit (Programme Manager) and Ms Aneme Crafford-Lazarus are geared to lead the next generation into the exciting world of the Sport Industry. Their joint knowledge, experience and industry involvement makes them a most capable and ideal choice to present this new qualification.
